Remembering Karen Eisenbach, a Devoted Friend, Champion of Creative Spirit, and the Neurodiverse Community

Written By: Menachem Rephun, Creative Spirit Communication Manager

We are heartbroken to share with our Creative Spirit community that our beloved vice chair and friend Karen Eisenbach has passed away. A board member since Creative Spirit’s founding in 2017, Karen was a passionate, dedicated champion of inclusion and representation for all people with disabilities. She provided constant, invaluable support to Creative Spirit and was passionate about employment for the neurodiverse community.

Karen’s commitment to disability inclusion was expressed in her interview as part of our “Why I Care” series in 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Karen observed that this situation represented a potential turning point to shift away from “business as usual”, offering a valuable opportunity to include people with disabilities in the workplace fully. During that interview, Karen also shared her perspective on the meaning of “Why I Care.”

“When you think about the conversation today around diversity and inclusion, knowing that this vital community isn’t engaged in that conversation in the same way others are from a diversity perspective,” she said. “I would say about why I care because it makes excellent business sense when you think about the need for talent.”

Karen’s legacy of kindness and commitment extended to people with disabilities. Karen’s commitment to the Creative Spirit board of directors as vice chair, leadership in training and volunteering and the way she made everyone she met feel like they were contributing were part of her enduring contribution to all of our lives. Creative Spirit celebrates the irreplaceable life of Karen Eisenbach and her impact on the neurodiverse community. Her vibrant, indomitable spirit will be forever missed.
