Even with 1 in 5 people being neurodivergent, this community still faces unemployment rates as high as 40%, according to the University of Connecticut’s Center for Neurodiversity and Employment Innovation. Creative Spirit’s HireDifferent study found that fewer than 12% of companies currently include neurodiversity in their hiring efforts. While 92% of employers have inclusion policies, only about 22% specifically mention neurodiversity. This isn’t about a lack of intention; it reflects a gap in awareness and confidence regarding the hiring of people who are neurodivergent.
