Creative Spirit is passionately committed to ensuring and providing equal employment opportunities for people of all abilities. This week, we are highlighting one remarkable candidate, Chris Smith.
“We first met Chris while preparing for a training session with MRM//McCann,” Terry Ebert, Creative Spirit’s Director of Candidate Services, said. “He agreed to be part of that session – telling the story of his early job search. His presentation was so compelling that it led to an interview, which led to a job offer.” Terry has described Chris as “focused, determined and persistent, along with patient, friendly and creative.”
That job offer marked the start of a new chapter in Chris’s life. In early 2018, he was brought on as a three-month intern, with his first assignment being data transfer to a new HR system. His manager expected the task to take a week. By mid-day Wednesday, however, Chris came back to his manager, asking for a new assignment. Chris Smith
Chris has been working with the talent acquisition team, scheduling and managing interviews, checking references, and updating information. He has been so successful, that the internship was renewed several times and, early in 2020, he was promoted to a full-time role.
“MRM has provided me a work environment where I feel supported and accepted,” Chris says. “The fact that my employer is aware that I have an intellectual development disorder (IDD)0 means I have nothing to hide. It gives me a level of freedom and comfort that I truly appreciate.”
