The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of disabilities. You can read more about your rights here: https://www.eeoc.gov/facts/ada18.html
Employers are required to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities. A request for an accommodation does not have to include any special words, such as “reasonable accommodation,” “disability,” or “Rehabilitation Act.” A request is any communication in which an individual asks or states that he/she needs EEOC to provide or to change something because of a medical condition.
Many, but not all, organizations require you to submit a form from your healthcare provider with your diagnosis and the applicable you are requesting. It’s good practice to ask what the organization’s accommodations process is as soon as you can so that you can plan and have time to provide the necessary information and fill out any forms. You can learn more about your applicable workplace accommodations here alphabetized by label: https://askjan.org/a-to-z.cfm
A family member, health professional, or other representative may request an accommodation on behalf of an EEOC employee or applicant. For example, a doctor’s note outlining medical restrictions for an employee constitutes a request for reasonable accommodation. You can read more about different accommodations here: https://www.eeoc.gov/eeoc/internal/reasonable_accommodation.cfm

Creative Spirit respects that disclosure is a personal choice. We encourage candidates and employees to do what is most comfortable for them. That said, the advantage of disclosing is that it signals to an employer that they may need to facilitate specific accommodations. However, you are not legally required to disclose.
This will depend on the specific employer. Creative Spirit encourages employers to hire candidates with unique backgrounds and abilities. That said, you will likely be working alongside both neurodivergent and neurotypical employees. Although it’s best to respect that colleagues may choose not to disclose to you, that’s okay.
Creative Spirit hosts many panel discussions and networking/social events throughout the year, including our annual gala. As events are scheduled, we will invite registered Creative Spirit users to participate.
